At Bowen Legacy Dental, superb treatment is a family affair. After graduating from Ohio State University’s dental program in 1974, Dr. Richard Bowen went on to establish Bowen Legacy Dental with his father, where they worked together for 20 years. Now Dr. Bowen is pleased to welcome the next generation of Bowen family dentists, partnering with his daughter Dr. Taryn Gehlert. Together they will continue to provide quality dentistry to the greater Columbus area—a community that has come to associate the Bowen name with excellence.
Passionate about delivering high-quality, personalized care to each of his patients, Dr. Bowen is dedicated to integrating the most innovative dental treatments and techniques at his practice. He strives to make trips to Bowen Legacy Dental a peaceful, joyous occasion for all of his patients. Dr. Bowen is well-known for his compassionate and thoughtful care, which has established Bowen Legacy Dental as the superior choice for not only outstanding dentistry, but also for comfortable, relaxing dental treatments. In addition to working at Bowen Legacy Dental, Dr. Bowen is also member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Ohio Dental Association (ODA), Columbus Dental Association (CDA), International College of Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), American Academy of Craniofacial Pain (AACP), American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM), Central Ohio Academy of Dental Practice Administration (COADPA), Pierre Fauchard Academy, Spear Faculty Club, and serves as the Spear Study Club Leader.
Dedicated to serving his community, Dr. Bowen enjoys spending time giving back both as a dental professional and as an Ohioan, volunteering for a number of charities like Kid Smile, Faith Mission, Homeless Family Foundation, Tourette Syndrome Association of Ohio and Hilliard Lunch Program, Rotary Club, and Men’s Ministry. In his free time, Dr. Bowen enjoys a variety of outdoor activities like tennis, sailing, racing boats, skiing, hiking, or biking. In fact, like his father before him, Dr. Bowen used to play tennis for Ohio State University and later continued as a professional!
