With November in full swing, the season of togetherness, gratefulness, and joy is all around us. It is important to take time to reflect on what makes us feel grateful during Thanksgiving. That list may look different for each and every person! Some may be most thankful for their pets, friends, family, or health. Here at Bowen Legacy Dental, we’re feeling extra grateful for the opportunity to deliver total-body wellness. Read on to learn more!
We’re thankful to provide dental care
It may be easy to forget, but a large percentage of people do not receive regular dental care. According to the CDC, over 35% of adults over 18 did not visit a dentist in 2019. And over 14% of children aged 2 to 17 did not have a dental visit in 2018. When visits to the dentist are neglected or unfortunately unattainable, issues may go undetected and worsen severely.
Patients should visit us twice a year so we can check for problems like cavities, infection, decay, oral cancer, or airway issues. We also clear away plaque and tartar with special tools before they build up and cause issues like gum disease. Here at Bowen Legacy Dental, we feel so thankful that we can provide dental services to children and adults of all ages, and we strive every day to lower the numbers of those who go untreated!
We’re thankful to promote total-body wellness
Dental care is vital not just for the teeth and gums but for overall health as well. Connected through the bloodstream, our mouths can spread bacteria throughout the body. An examination of the mouth can reveal signs of oral cancer, untreated diabetes, autoimmune diseases, anemia, and more.
When illness-causing bacteria build up on the teeth and gums, it can spread through the body, causing further issues. Bacteria that lead to plaque and tartar buildup can cause inflammatory gum disease, spread through the body, and cause inflammation in the blood vessels associated with heart disease. We are so thankful for the opportunity to help patients keep their bodies healthy-one smile at a time.
We’re thankful for the best technology
With knowledge of the mouth-body connection, we prioritize wellness treatments for all-around healthier patients. We are so thankful that we get to teach patients about the impact of their oral health and provide treatments that nurture wellness. We make sure to offer holistic services that are the safest and most effective in dentistry. These include ozone therapy, dental sleep appliances, and more.
We're thankful for our patients
Most of all, we are thankful for our wonderful patients who put a smile on our faces each and every day! Our patients are the reason that we love what we do. And we know that they deserve the best. That is why we offer the most advanced services, technologies, and techniques to create healthy smiles and healthy bodies.
Exercising regularly helps keep your heart and lungs strong and healthy, so be sure to stay active. As an added benefit, exercise also helps reduce your risk of gum disease! Additionally, many foods that are good for your lungs are also good for your teeth. Peppers, apples, pumpkins, tomatoes, and green tea are all examples of antioxidant-rich foods that help to strengthen the lungs and are much better for the teeth than those full of starch and sugars.
From all of us here at Bowen Legacy Dental, we hope you and your loved ones have a happy Thanksgiving! To book your next appointment, call 614.459.2300.
